You’ve got the pumpkins carved, house decorated and candy bought, but find yourself still struggling for that costume? Halloween is less than a week away, and its crunch time for those last minute ideas. If you’ve scratched dressing up like pop culture personalities like Gaga, Snookie, Honey Boo Boo or her Mama June, or dropping more than $60 at the Halloween store for an unoriginal off-the-rack get-up, why not channel a little Martha Stewart and lean towards a traditional, homemade idea? Shock your friends and family and go undead this year as a realistic zombie.
We’ve come a long way from just throwing a white bed sheet over ourselves and saying “Boo.” Horror make-up is big business. Shows like Face Off, a competition/elimination series, on SYFY showcase the world of special-effects make-up artists, unlimited imagination and amazing transformations through face paint techniques.

THE LIVING DEAD NEVER DIES… OR GOES OUT OF STYLE
Zombies are freakin’ hot in pop culture right now. With TV shows like The Walking Dead becoming more and more popular (and active fan base that’s busy “talking dead” on the second screen), it’s no wonder many folks have zombies on their “braaaaaains.”
Plus, it’s easy to transform yourself with little out of pocket costs. We’ve all got access to thrift stores or our own old clothes to tear, soil and zombie-fy. Plus, consider the endless cryptic creativity you could swipe across your face with less than $10 worth of face paint.
If you do a Google search for “zombie make-up tutorials” you will land about 4,700,000 results, that’s a huge cemetery plot of gruesomeness to dig through. You could then filter your search for just videos and end up buried sifting through only two million finds, mostly YouTube videos.
