Where to Watch Consumer Electronics Show 2013 Coverage Online

The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the four-day orgy of all things consumer tech, runs January 8, 2013 through January 11, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The exhibition gives attendees a first look at the latest gear and gadgets from the biggest companies in consumer technology. There will be everything from the latest in TVs, to mobile technology, to high-tech cars, as well as some pretty cool accessories. Pretty glamorous stuff for a tech junkie—that is if you can make it out to Las Vegas and find a hotel room. Then again, once you’re there, the glamour fades quickly when you start dealing with jostling crowds, walking mile after mile on the show floor, and waiting an hour or more for a cab.

Fortunately, you have plenty of options for keeping tabs on the show from wherever you happen to be. Several outlets, from tech news sites to manufacturers, are providing video coverage of the event, including live streams and prepackaged highlights.

WATCH CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW COVERAGE ON TECH SITES

Technology news sites are the logical choice to find comprehensive online video coverage of the International Consumer Electronics Show. CNET is the official live streaming partner for the Consumer Electronics Show. Beginning January 7 at 12 p.m. EST, the site will offer live versions of its video programs, including CNET Update and First Look videos of the newest gadgets from the CES show floor. CNET will also deliver the Best of CES awards program and the Next Big Thing SuperSession, in which CNET editors Brian Cooley and Molly Wood discuss the “post-mobile revolution” with a panel that includes Mark Cuban. The site also promises live interviews with noted tech geniuses such as LL Cool J and Arianna Huffington. The Verge, the official technology news partner for the Consumer Electronics Show, will offer a mix of live and prerecorded broadcasts as part of its coverage, including a morning show and afternoon roundup, hands-on demos of new products, and interviews with tech company executives. But the highlight will likely be the live evening wrap-ups on Vergecast After Hours, a free-form news show in which Verge editors deliver off-the-cuff—and probably a few NSFW—riffs for an hour or more on everything from mobile platforms to the surrealistic phoniness of Las Vegas. TechCrunch will provide live streaming coverage of the Consumer Electronics Show via Ustream, with its staff roaming the show floor for the latest tech trends and gadgets, conducting onstage interviews, and holding live demos on its outdoor stage. On January 7, TechCrunch will live stream a Startup Tour in which the crew visits Las Vegas-area startups for most of the day.

TPN.tv, the online video channel for Tech Podcasts Networks, will deliver live Consumer Electronics Show video reports through its partnership with Livestream. In addition to a team of 20 reporters covering the action on the show floor, the TPN.tv studio will host more than 100 live interviews with tech executives.

Perhaps you’d prefer to find out what your favorite company is up to at the Consumer Electronics Show. If you’re a fan of Samsung products—and other than Apple’s legal team, who isn’t?—you’ll want to check out Samsung’s Tomorrow TV channel on YouTube, where you’ll get a first look at the company’s newest products. You can also watch the live stream of the January 9 keynote address by Dr. Stephen Woo, Samsung’s president of business device solutions.

Panasonic is offering live coverage of its events at the Consumer Electronics Show on Ustream. On January 7, you can catch the company’s morning press conference. January 8 features Panasonic President Kazuhiro Tsuga’s keynote address. And January 8 and 9 will feature live coverage from Panasonic’s booth from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. PST.
