RealCloud is now fully available for Windows 8
[blog_update content=”RPC2RT”]
You may be getting tired of this, but we are not!! RealCloud is now available on yet another platform. For all those who love the new Windows 8 Modern UI, we just added an app.
The RealCloud app for Windows 8 does pretty much everything that its iOS and Android counterparts do. The great thing though is that it allows you to move or stream your videos from the “desktop” portion of your Windows 8 device to the modern part by uploading those videos to the cloud. For anybody who has had to live with the limitation of having two different operating systems within the same device that cannot talk to each other, this is a great solution.
Please try the app on the Windows 8 devices and let us know what we can do to make it better. RealCloud apps are already available on Windows (Classic mode), iPhone, iPad, Android, Kindle, Chromecast and Roku.

Morning,
I am writing because I have a problem trying to sign into realplayer cloud app, downloaded from my windows 8 store, I’ve suceeded loging into different devices but, it keeps poping up a message from the app that says: the user name has been deleted!
Please help me, regards.
Just downloaded RealPlayer Cloud Win 8 app. I can see my tablet in PC, however i am not able to see my PC in my tablet (Videos->Device/PC ).
Sorry you are unable to access PC videos on your device.
The sharing settings on your PC may be affecting the visibility of your videos on other devices. Please try the following steps to correct this:
1. On your PC, open Control Panel.
2. Select Network and Internet (or Network and Sharing Center) and then “View network computers and devices.”
3. At this point you may be prompted to share on a private or public network. The prompt is the sign that your PC is not enabled for sharing, which explains the inability for RealPlayer Cloud on devices to see your PC. You need to enable sharing on at least your private network. The devices will show up on your private network once the sharing is enabled.
I also recommend checking your Library and Device Sharing settings:
1. Open RealPlayer Cloud.
2. Click on the RealPlayer logo in the upper left and select Preferences.
3. Click on “Library and device sharing” from the options available on the left side.
4. You will see “Folders to share with other devices and add to PC library”. Make sure that you have added the location of the videos that you would like to see on your devices.
If you additional question, please send an email to help@real.com
Apologies for the late reply to your question!
Please respond with the following information:
1. What is the make and model of your device?
2. Are you using a Windows Phone to sign in?
3. If not, please let us know the device. (Tablets, Laptops, and PCs)
The more specific you are, the better I will be able to assist you.
Downloaded real player cloud app for windows 8.1. I dont see option to cast it to chromecast, that option is available on the same app onmy ipad but not in the app for windows 8.
advice how to cast to chromecast using real player cloud app on windows 8
Sorry for the inconvenience caused!
If you are using a PC or laptop, you’ll need to install the Chromecast extension through your Chrome web browser, and open cloud.real.com in Chrome when you want to cast videos. (Chromecast does not support native Windows software, so it is not available in the desktop RealPlayer Cloud application.)
Next, make sure you are signed into the RealPlayer Cloud app on your device.
If you have the app or extension installed, and you are signed in, but you still can’t cast videos, power-cycle your Chromecast by following these steps:
1. Remove the Chromecast device from the HDMI slot.
2. Unplug the USB cable or power cable (depending on how the device is powered up).
3. Reconnect the Chromecast and try again.
If you still have any issues, please send an email to help@real.com

You almost had me at hello.
Windows 8 desktop – check
Microsoft Surface 2 RT – check
Windows Phone 8 – let me try that again. r-e-a-l- -p-l-a-y-e-r hmmm.. search screen comes up empty. This article says FULLY – must be something wrong with the WP8 store?
Sorry, we do not currently offer a RealPlayer app for any Windows Phone. I will pass along your request to our product team as they continue to expand the availability of RealPlayer Cloud for mobile devices.
Soooo many bugs I cant believe this is a “stable” version instead of a “beta” !!
Can’t even connect or log in to the ‘Cloud”… My PC has win 8.1 with Media Center, had the Chromecast device, Chromecast extension, wifi at home and all that….
It “force close” on me or the pop up windows says “the webpage cannot be displayed”…. Some times says something about mercurybeta.com and I tried to open in a new tab but no luck…
Clicking on “Get Free Space” Icon does nothing….
Load too slow (My Processor is a Athlon X4 3Ghz with 16 GB RAM DDR-3 so its NOT a PC issue)…
RealCloud version 17.0.6.13
Besides the real player and the converter, all the “cloud” features are useless…. Thinking about uninstalling !!!
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Please send an email to help@real.com, include a brief description of the issue, copy and paste the link to this thread within the email for further assistance.

Is it possible to use Realplayer without creating an online account? I just want to play Audio and Video files that I already have stored on my PC. I don’t want an online account and I don’t know how to tell the software to stop asking.
RealPlayer Cloud is designed in such a way to pop up sign in window at the end of the installation and whenever a user tries to access Cloud feature. If you don’t want to create an account, please close the sign in window and continue using RealPlayer Cloud.
Now that you have an app for Windows 8.1, how about something for Windows Phone? Is that in the works?
No. RealPlayer Cloud is available only for PC (Windows 7 and higher), Android (4.0 or higher), iOS (5 or higher), and Windows 8 Tablets at this time. We are in the process of expanding the compatibility to all available devices. Stay Tuned!
If you have any additional questions, please send an email to help@real.com
Ya your little fix of just re-install realplayer to make it appear in my extensions did not work ive installed this stupid thing twice now realplayer downloader does not show up in my extensions list.
It sounds like you are using Google Chrome to download videos. Other customer’s have also reported the same problem. We are aware of this and our development team is working to get it resolved soon. In the meantime as an interim fix, try using RealPlayer browser to download videos.
To do so, follow these steps:
1. Open RealPlayer.
2. Click on RealPlayer Menu (at the top left corner)
3. Select File.
4. Click on Open.
5. Type the web site URL (For example http://www.youtube.com) and click OK.
6. Play any video and download it.
Once the issue is fixed, we will update you on the status. If you have any additional questions, please send an email to help@real.com

is it possible to play movies through realplayer Cloud and cast it?
Sorry, Chromecast does not support native Windows applications, so it is not available in the desktop RealPlayer Cloud application. You can cast from your PC using our website (http://cloud.real.com), as well as from most smartphones and several tablets. If Google extends Chromecast to support Windows apps, we’ll definitely look into it!
Note: You’ll need to install the Chromecast extension through your Chrome web browser, and open cloud.real.com in Chrome when you want to cast videos from your PC.
If you have any additional questions, please send an email to help@real.com
Everytime i try to search a video on real player, it says not authorized… How am i supposed to download videos if i can’t find the ones i want to download?
Sorry. To avoid this error, please sign in to RealPlayer first and then search for videos to download them. Follow these steps:
1. Open RealPlayer.
2. Click on the down arrow to the right of the RealPlayer logo (upper left corner of the player).
3. Select Sign in.
4. Enter the email address and password associated with the account.
If you have any additional questions, please send an email to help@real.com
I must say it is very disconcerting to read the breadth of issues. RealPlayer should expedite a solution to all of the above, or close up its operational network. Disappointing responses from RealPlayer – if the company was selling cars – then the ‘lemon’ law would surely be invoked.
Hi, i used to cast local videos all the time using the Real Player Cloud perfectly on my galaxy s2 (4.1.2), but now for whatever reason when i try to play a local video on the TV it displays the video with the loading icon and after a while it gives a message on my phone that the video cant be played, “Casting Failed”… just a normal video and even a 5 sec one too. How can i fix it, i want to watch my movies!!
How frustrating!
We always strive to maintain a positive feedback with our customers.
I understand that you need some help; however, the exact nature of the problem you are having is not clear to me.
Before I can help you, I will need some more information. Could you please send an email to help@real.com with specific information about the problem you are having?
Please describe exactly what it is that you are trying to do and include any error messages that you may receive. It can also be helpful to include what your computer’s operating system is,what web browser you’re using and the version of RealPlayer installed?
Note: Many problems you might have using the older products can be resolved by upgrading to a current version, as long as your computer meets the current version’s system requirements. Therefore, I recommend you to install RealPlayer Cloud and try again.
The more specific you are, the better I will be able to assist you.
Sorry for the trouble.

It is impossible to install “RalPlayer Cloud” in my computer Window 7, due to Virus “Malware RDM.3415.28”. Pls. investigate and create without any Virus. Tks!
PAUL.
Sorry for the trouble.
RealNetworks takes precautions to ensure our software is clear of viruses. It is safe to disable the anti-virus temporarily to install RealPlayer. After it is installed, enable the turn on the security.
Note: Sometimes anti-virus software companies release definitions that trigger a false alert when certain programs are launched or certain files are accessed. Your anti-virus software may tell you that you have a virus when you do not. This can happen when a program performs a task, like copying a file from one location to another, in a way that the anti-virus software looks for based upon the definitions. A false alert can also sometimes be triggered when a free software installation includes additional offers; some programs that do this include Eset and MalwareBytes.
You should run updates of your anti-virus software, including virus definitions, then perform a full system scan. This will eliminate almost all false alerts.
If you believe you are infected with a virus or worm, visit your anti-virus manufacturer’s website for removal information.
I have been able to download Real Player cloud but my problem is that I am using a Firefox Nightly (64bit) and Palemoon (64bit) on the Windows 8.1 and neither of them are allowing the real player plugins and extensions to pop up in the add-on menu.
Is there any version of Real Player that is compatible with (64bit) browsers yet?
Sorry for the trouble.
Other customers have reported the same problem. We are aware of this and our development team is working to get it resolved soon. In the meantime, please verify the following:
Make sure that you have enabled the RealDowloader plugin by following this link: http://customer.real.com/entries/23689856
If the plugin is enabled, try with alternate browsers like Internet Explorer or the RealPlayer browser.
Note: Palemoon browser is not supported by RealPlayer.
If that does not resolve the issue, try the below workaround steps:
1. Open RealPlayer Cloud.
2. Click on RealPlayer Cloud Logo.
3. Go to File.
4. Then select New and then New Web browser.
5. Type the URL of the website ( like http://www.youtube.com ) and select a video.
6. If ‘Download This Video’ button is not enabled, make a right click and then select ‘Download This video’ option. It should download the video.
You can try the right click option for Internet Explorer browser too. Here’s how:
1. Launch Internet Explorer.
2. Go to http://www.youtube.com
3. Play any video and make a right click. Then select ‘Download This video’ option from the list.
Hope this helps! If you have any additional questions, please send an email to help@real.com
The problem is not the downloader button poping up above the video I want to download, but the downloader or any other Real Player plugin or extensions as it is not existing at all in the addons screen as if it is just not compatable with the browser!
Firefox Nightly is a new form of Firefox browser that runs (64bit) as Firefox is a (32bit) and so far all the plugins and extensions for Real Player are (32bit) I think that is the problem I am running into!
The Palemoon browser is like a Twin to Firefox and runs and uses features like Firefox and I had the Real Player downloader function work before on Palemoon before but the version I am using now is a (64bit) version. The (32bit) version of Palemoon will run the Real Player downloader with no problems at all!
The supported web browsers for Download This Video are:
1- Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10, 11
2- Firefox 19 and above
3- Google Chrome 26 – 34
4- Macintosh: Safari and Firefox
Firefox Nightly and Pale Moon web browsers are not supported. If you have any additional questions, please send an email to help@real.com
Hi,
Realplayer cloud is not showing as available to download via http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-gb/app/realplayer-cloud/0dfaf7d4-40ae-4b3c-ba0c-b8b03c0a9408 or in the windows store app?
Paul
RealPlayer Cloud is not yet available for the Windows Phone, only for Windows 8 tablets. We are working on a Windows Phone version of the app which we expect to release later this year. I’m sorry for the inconvenience!
You can access the RealPlayer Cloud website, http://cloud.real.com. You can download, play and share the cloud videos which is uploaded through Player Cloud desktop version.
Why does RealPlayer Cloud load so slow on latest Google Chrome? How can I speed it up? I admit I have unchecked it to start as windows loads in msconfig.
I understand that you need some help; however, the exact nature of the problem you are having is not clear to me.
Before I can help you, I will need some more information. Could you please be more specific about the problem you are having? Please describe exactly what it is that you are trying to do and include any error messages that you may receive. It can also be helpful to include the name of your computer’s operating system. Also, provide the following:
> Are you unable to download videos faster (Speedbit is off)?
> Are you having trouble enabling the RealDowloader plugin?
> Are you unable to access the Cloud videos using Google Chrome?
> Does it happens when you use other browsers like Firefox, Internet Explorer?
> What version of RealPlayer is installed?
To find the version:
a. Open the RealPlayer software.
b. From the RealPlayer menu in the upper left, choose “Help” option.
c. Choose “About RealPlayer” inside the “Help” menu. A window opens.
d. Provide the information listed beside “Version” near the top of the “About RealPlayer” window. These numbers indicate the version of RealPlayer currently installed on the computer (i.e. “RealPlayer 16.0.3.51” or “RealPlayer 17.0.13.2”).
The more specific you are, the better I will be able to assist you.
