Microsoft’s Windows 8 has finally arrived and with it comes an innovative way to think about how you use your computer. The new Start screen has taken a fresh approach to viewing files and apps with a graphically rich tile-based design. Keeping that in mind, we created a new RealPlayer app designed to take advantage of Windows 8, called RealPlayer Daily Videos. You can get it now for free in the Windows Store.
Finding videos to watch online can be time consuming. RealPlayer Daily Videos does the heavy lifting for you, delivering the most popular user-generated and free videos directly to the RealPlayer Daily Videos app. See a video you like in the RealPlayer Daily Videos app, but don’t have time to watch it? No problem, just bookmark the link and it will be placed in the Watch Later category.
To make it even easier to find the videos you want, RealPlayer Daily Videos features Channels dedicated to categories such as travel, education, pets, politics, and more. You can also see videos provided by a specific website such as the Huffington Post. Check out the Most Watched Videos category in any channel to see new videos daily.
Make A Splash
The RealPlayer Daily Videos app for Windows 8 delivers a fresh experience and surfaces new videos daily that you can bookmark and watch later.
REALPLAYER EXPRESS AND WINDOWS 8
The look and feel of RealPlayer Daily Videos shares a similar look to the tile-based design of the Windows 8 Start screen, displaying videos in both large and small tiles. Just click on a video to play it and see more options.
Since RealPlayer Daily Videos works seamlessly with the Search charm in Windows 8, it’s easy to search the web for a particular video without ever having to leave the app. Once you find the video you want, use the app to watch it instantly, or save it for later with the Watch Later functionality.
Get a closer look at what RealPlayer Daily Videos for Windows 8 has to offer in this video:
MAKE SOCIAL CONNECTIONS WITH REALPLAYER EXPRESS
Using RealPlayer Daily Videos to discover and organize online videos is just part of the fun. See a video you want to share with friends? Use the included sharing tools to share it with Facebook friends or tweet the video to all your Twitter followers. It can also be used in conjunction with social media apps such as Facebook and Twitter. The app can be used to quickly browse and view videos from Facebook friends.

I purchased realplayer plus and I’m thinking about purchasing a new computer with windows 8. Will my plus account transfer and work with windows 8? also how do I transfer my very extensive music and video library to my new computer without having to make a million cds and dvds?
By RealPlayer Posted on December 11, 2012
We just released a new version of RealPlayer. Just download the latest version of RealPlayer and it will work with Firefox without you needing to change any settings.
By RealPlayer Posted on December 12, 2012
When you purchase your new Windows 8 computer, simply install RealPlayer for the desktop and sign-in with your RealPlayer Plus account information and you’ll have access to it. As for the videos and music, since they are saved on your computer’s hard drive have the place where you purchase your computer move all your files over from the old computer to the new computer. You can also use an online storage site such as Microsoft’s SkyDrive and upload your videos and music to it and then download them to your new computer via SkyDrive. Let us know if you need any more help.

You’ll need to download the desktop version of RealPlayer to download videos in Windows 8.

Hi Craig,
Several customers are experiencing the same issue. Our support team is aware of this and working on high priority to resolve it at the earliest. However, I don’t have an ETA in this regard. Once it is fixed, you will be notified by our support team.
However please try this work around it:
1. Right click on the desktop & choose ‘Screen Resolution’ (Choose Display Properties if it is XP)
2. This would show the number of monitors available for display (Below is my set up)
3. Lower the screen resolution.
4. Tried to download the video and then right click on Task Manager and click on RealDownloader and resize it.
5. Then try to change the screen resolution to high and try to download the video.
6. Restart the computer & attempt to download a video

How can I connect my PC to my home AV? I’m a bit technically challenged BTW. I don’t seem to have an HDMI out from my HP Pavillion. RealPlayer is installed on the PC. Guessing there has to be a way…
By Alane Jewel Posted on February 9, 2013

If HDMI port is not available in your laptop. We suggest you to contact your AV manufacturer and check whether your AV supports VGA or DVI port.

Realplayer trimmer doesn’t work. Videos won’t load but I have audio. This seems to happen with mp4 videos.
Tried a flv video and that worked okay.
By RealPlayer Team Posted on June 7, 2013
Hi Steve,
Sorry for the inconvenience, this is due to changes made at YouTube and we are working with YouTube to resolve the issue. However, here are some steps we think might resolve the issue.
Workaround steps for Internet Explorer
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Tools
3. Go to Manage Add-ons
4. Disable Shockwave Flash Object
5. Close & reopen Internet Explorer
6. Go to http://www.youtube.com and play the video you want to download
7. It will prompt to ‘Upgrade Adobe Flash Player’ (Ignore this message)
8. Attempt to download. Now files should get downloaded and are playable
Please be informed that we have already tested these steps with few customers and it worked on their computers. Even after disabling the Shockwave Flash Object plug-in, the YouTube videos are playing in Internet Explorer. If the videos doesn’t play, kindly enable the plugin and wait for our team to find a permanent fix for this issue.
If that doesn’t work, send an email to help@real.com so that we can help you further.

I downloaded and installed RealPlayer specifically so that I could download and save this Flash video from Mens’ Health (http://www.menshealth.com/deltafit/3-best-moves-prevent-back-pain?cm_mmc=EOWNL-_-1281626-_-05012013-_-MovesBackPain-hed). However, when following the instructions as outlined above, hovering the cursor over the movie does nothing other than the movie continues to play. There is no change, no box, no instruction, no download option, etc.
How can this video be downloaded with RealPlayer?
By RealPlayer Team Posted on June 12, 2013
Hi Dale,
RealPlayer can download unprotected online streaming videos. However, we respect copyright so if the video is protected RealPlayer will not download it.
Greetings! I’ve been following your weblog for a while now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Huffman Tx! Just wanted to tell you keep up the good job!

Sorry for any inconvenience!
One workaround is to check whether a valid download path is set in RealDownloader. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Click the Start button at the bottom left of your computer screen, and navigate to All Programs > RealNetworks > RealDownloader.
2. In the RealDownloader window, click the RealDownloader logo and select Preferences.
3. In the Preferences window, notice the path listed in “Save local file to. ”
4. If you see anything which says like “LibrariesVideosRealPlayer Downloads” click on “Browse” button, select the folder “RealPlayer Downloads” (If you don’t see any such folder, create a folder by this name) and click on “Select Folder”. Then Click on “OK” button.
5. Now try to download videos.

By Brinton Felixraja Posted on May 7, 2014
Sorry, we are no longer distributing RealDownloader, as it does not support newer browsers and file formats. However, you can install the latest version of RealPlayer to access the feature of RealDownloader and more. If you have Windows 7 or higher, you will get additional benefits — being able to store videos in the Cloud and share videos across multiple devices.
You can download the free RealPlayer Basic software from the following website:
hi I got a sony vaio windows 8 laptop, touchscreen. just wondering what is the best option in terms of realplayer, mainly for downloading youtube videos and saving.

You can download and install the latest version of RealPlayer Cloud to download online videos.
RealPlayer Cloud is the newest version of RealPlayer, available for customers who have an operating system of Windows 7 or higher. RealPlayer Cloud includes all the functions of RealPlayer 16, as well as allowing you to upload and share videos, play them across your various devices, and watch them on your TV using Chromecast, Roku, or Amazon Fire TV.
Use of the Cloud storage and sharing features is completely optional. We think it’s a cool–and private–way to share your favorite videos with friends and family, but there is no requirement to upload your videos to the Cloud if you don’t want to.
When I try to watch a video with real player on my windows 8.1 laptop that is on Facebook I can’t see it. It goes to the page but all I get is a blank screen with a blue line at the top. I am using the desktop but when I go to start screen it does the same thing. It works fine on my windows 7 laptop. What do I need to do to get it working?
By Brinton Felixraja Posted on July 1, 2014
Sorry for the trouble.
To fix this issue, please provide the following:
> Whether it is a downloaded file or online videos?
> If it is a online video, are you using RealPlayer browser or other browses ( like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome)?
> If it is a downloaded video, what is the file format?
> Does it happens for all file formats?
> What operating system you’re using?
> What version of RealPlayer is installed?
To find the version:
a. Open the RealPlayer software.
b. From the RealPlayer menu in the upper left, choose “Help” option.
c. Choose “About RealPlayer” inside the “Help” menu. A window opens.
d. Provide the information listed beside “Version” near the top of the “About RealPlayer” window. These numbers indicate the version of RealPlayer currently installed on the computer (i.e. “RealPlayer 16.0.3.51” or “RealPlayer 17.0.11.0”).
The more specific you are, the better I will be able to assist you. Awaiting for your response!
If you have any additional questions, please send an email to help@real.com

RealPlayer automatically downloaded as a update.
It downloaded with cloud which I do not need.
What is worse..it downloaded a incompatible version
to my widows 8 computer.
I can’t open it up at all..
Need to uninstall it and reinstall another version of RealPlayer without cloud. Thanks

I have windows8 and I have the latest version of realplayer. It is not letting me download youtube or any videos on realplayer. I even open the web browser in realplayer and then go to the youtube site. still no luck, and the download button doesnt appear. I disabled the pepperflash in firefox, and I also tried using explorer. Still no luck! Maybe the problem is in my control settings? Help!
I purchased realplayer plus and I’m thinking about purchasing a new computer with windows 8. Will my plus account transfer and work with windows 8? also how do I transfer my very extensive music and video library to my new computer without having to make a million cds and dvds?
We just released a new version of RealPlayer. Just download the latest version of RealPlayer and it will work with Firefox without you needing to change any settings.

Realplayer trimmer doesn’t work. Videos won’t load but I have audio. This seems to happen with mp4 videos.
Tried a flv video and that worked okay.
Hi Steve,
Sorry for the inconvenience, this is due to changes made at YouTube and we are working with YouTube to resolve the issue.
Hi Dale,
RealPlayer can download unprotected online streaming videos. However, we respect copyright so if the video is protected RealPlayer will not download it.
Greetings! I’ve been following your weblog for a while now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Huffman Tx! Just wanted to tell you keep up the good job!

I paid for Real Player Plus and it won’t let me down load it without paying for it again. Website interface is unfriendly. It gave me some cloud application that I don’t care about but I just want to watch dvds with my Windows 8 machine. Frustrated after paying 40 bucks for zilch. I miss Windows 7. Windows 8 just brings me headaches and white knuckles.
How frustrating! Please note that you need to sign in on the RealPlayer free version to activate RealPlayer Plus.

If you have RealPlayer Cloud or RealPlayer 16 (and are in the US or Canada, running Windows 7 or 8), you can download the new build (at no charge) by clicking the RealPlayer logo in the top left corner of the player, then clicking Check for Update and following the prompts to install the upgrade to RealPlayer version 17.0.
To update RealPlayer,
>Open RealPlayer
>Click on RealPlayer Logo
>Check for update
>Select the update and click install
Note: If RealPlayer is unable to find the latest update, you can download it from: http://www.real.com (Click on get RealPlayer Cloud free)
Please note that after installing, you need to sign in on the RealPlayer free version to activate RealPlayer Plus if you have purchased it.
To sign into RealPlayer,
>Open RealPlayer
>Click on RealPlayer logo at the top left corner.
>Select Sign in from the drop down menu.
>Sign in with your email address and password.
Also follow the steps to enable the RealPlayer Plugin in your web browser,

Note: If you live outside of the US and Canada, rest assured we will be making this fix available for RealPlayer 16 worldwide in early 2014.
my realplayer downloader always freezes up or stop downloading

Cant get Realplayer Plus to work on Windows 8. First let me say that Windows 8 is crap! Never had any issues with Windows 7 or XP. No matter what I try, Realplayer Plus 16 will download but not function. I get an error message every time and Windows shut down the Realplayer program. Very frustrating!

4) Click on RealDownloader logo which is on top left corner and then select preferences.

why cannot installer realpayerdownloaderfree?
Sorry, we are no longer distributing RealDownloader, as it does not support newer browsers and file formats. However, you can install the latest version of RealPlayer to access the feature of RealDownloader and more. If you have Windows 7 or higher, you will get additional benefits — being able to store videos in the Cloud and share videos across multiple devices.
You can download the free RealPlayer Basic software from the following website:

Click this link and then select ‘Get RealPlayer Cloud Free’ button to download: http://www.real.com/realplayer.html
After it is installed, make sure to enable the RealDownloader plugin. To do that, follow the instructions given in the below link:
https://realnetworks.zendesk.com/entries/23689856
Hope this helps.
