Where to Watch College Football Bowls Online
Cable TV isn’t the only place where the College Football bowls are overflowing. This NCAA bowl season, football fans can watch 33 of the 35 college football bowls online. Additionally, the few college bowl games not being shown online still have free live audio streams. Start plotting out how and where you’ll watch your most anticipated 2012-13 college football bowl games with our comprehensive college bowl schedule at the end of this post that pinpoints where to find every single legal, authorized bowl game webcast or livestream.
There are 35 college football bowl games scheduled over the course of 24 days, December 15, 2012 – January 7, 2013. The games are now spread out in such a way that there will be simultaneous, overlapping football on only three brief occasions – the afternoons of December 29 and 31, 2012, and January 1, 2013. So yes, theoretically, if one wanted listen to or watch all the college football bowl games online live and non-stop, it could be done by operating a split-screen or second screen.
WATCH BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: NOTRE DAME VS. ALABAMA
Save And Watch Your Favorite College Bowl Videos
More than 90% of the college football bowl games this year will be broadcast online on WatchESPN, the ESPN streaming sports website. WatchESPN will livestream a whopping 32 of the 35 college bowl games. If you’ve been watching college football games live online this season through Watch ESPN then you know that it requires an active cable TV subscription to access its online game streams.
WatchESPN will also livestream the biggest, most important bowl game of them all — the BCS National Championship Game on January 7, 2013. When number 1 Notre Dame (12-0) faces number 2 Alabama (12-1), just log in to WatchESPN at 8:30 p.m. EST to see the football game live online and in high-definition (HD).
Each of ESPN’s 32 bowl games, from the BCS Championship Game down to the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, will be available to watch in its entirety on-demand after the game has finished. Just click the Replay button, scroll down to the Football section for a commercial-free repeat of every ESPN-broadcast college bowl game following its completion.
WATCH ROSE BOWL ONLINE: STANFORD VS. WISCONSIN
The “Granddaddy of Them All” is also being webcast on WatchESPN. The New Year’s Day tradition continues with the 99th Rose Bowl, when number 6 Stanford (10-2) takes on Wisconsin (8-5) at the 2013 Rose Bowl at 5 p.m. EST, Jan. 1, 2013.
Mobile users can also watch college football bowl games on a smartphone or tablet – including the Rose Bowl and the BCS Championship Game — by downloading the free WatchESPN app. WatchESPN for iOS and Android also requires an active cable subscription to watch the live college bowl games. When it comes to watching the bowl games on a mobile device, you can get into the spirit by checking out the WatchESPN app commercial below developed just for this year’s college bowl game season.
If you don’t subscribe to cable or ESPN, you still get a consolation bowl invite. ESPN will be live-tweeting highlights, pictures, and sports wrap-ups of critical bowl game plays as they occur on the ESPN College Football Twitter page.
LISTEN TO THE COTTON BOWL: TEXAS A&M VS. OKLAHOMA
This year’s Cotton Bowl is a doozie, but you cannot watch it online legally. FOX Sports will show number 9 Texas A&M (10-2) vs. number 11 Oklahoma (10-2) on TV, but they will not be webcasting the game. Even so, ESPN Radio will provide free live Cotton Bowl audio online at ESPNRadio.com, with the kickoff at 8 p.m. EST, January 4, 2013.
Though the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic is on the relatively late date of January 4, 2013, it is only the second bowl game featuring a Top 10-ranked team. To those of us who grew up when every significant bowl game was played on January 1, this is just astonishing.
WATCH SUN BOWL ONLINE: GEORGIA TECH VS. USC
There is one — and only one – college football bowl game online that is free to watch and that’s the Sun Bowl. It is also the only bowl game featuring a losing team.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-7) face the USC Trojans (7-5) at the Sun Bowl, with Sun Bowl online live video provided for free courtesy of CBS Sports. Check the Sun Bowl online link for live video of the Hyundai Sun Bowl on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 2 p.m. EST.
CAPITAL ONE BOWL ONLINE: GEORGIA VS. NEBRASKA
While the Capital One Bowl is broadcast on the ABC network, live video of the game will not be shown online. ESPN Radio saves New Year’s Day for fans of the number 7 Georgia Bulldogs (11-2) and the number 16 Nebraska Cornhuskers (10-3) with Capital One Bowl online live audio available at ESPNRadio.com. There is no need for a cable subscription to listen to any of the games online via ESPN Radio. Kickoff is 1 p.m. EST on Tuesday, January 1, 2013.
