THREE GREAT NPR RADIO SHOWS AVAILABLE VIA PODCAST
NPR Radio online really does have something for everyone. If you don’t have a favorite NPR show, here are three shows worth checking out.
1. Click and Clack Car Talk
Let’s be honest you don’t even have to like cars or even own a car to love Car Talk! This is a wickedly funny 60-minute laugh fest hosted by two auto-mechanic brothers from Boston (Tom and Ray Magliozzi) that is simply pure genius. This is an iconic NPR show, possibly one of the best radio shows of all time. If you haven’t listened to the Car Talk NPR radio show then you definitely need to!
Here is the rub, after 25 years on NPR public radio and over 1,200 live shows Click And Clack are finally turning off the ignition. But never fear the duo is recycling the best of Car Talk NPR radio shows for you to listen to every Saturday. Plus if you go directly to Click and Clack’s website you can download albums of their best stories on iTunes.
The show is updated and available to listen to online via podcast at 3 p.m. EST on Saturdays.
2. NPR Mystery Science Podcasts
This NPR radio show has a great section of stories for people who are fascinated with nature and science. From stories about the effects of global warming on the polar icecap to how to grow tasty winter tomatoes it’s impossible to listen to the science stories on NPR radio and not become informed about the world in which you live.
You can download any stories you like and organize them in your Real Player library, so you have them on those rainy wintery days when there really is nothing interesting on television.
3. NPR Children’s Podcasts
Last but not least there are a number of great shows for children available on NPR radio online that you can listen to and download. You can’t help but think that a few hours a week listening to NPR would make your child infinitely smarter. From NPR’ s backseat book club to Children’s Fun Story-time to Science Fridays NPR radio makes learning fun for kids.
There is so much great content on NPR and so many different stations that it is impossible to stay current with all the shows 100% of the time. Listening to NPR radio online is a great way to catch-up on all your favorite shows and even discover a few new ones. Subscribe to your favorite shows, download them into your RealPlayer library and organize them into categories that make them easy to find when your NPR cravings come calling.

What’s your favorite NPR show? Let us know in the comments below.
This morning, in Kiawah, S.C., listening to NPR I was shocked to hear a commentary on oil, under a forest too beautiful to disturb in South America. The country’s solution was to ask other countries to contribute billions of dollars not to dig up the forest. Thus, comments were made, no one would contribute. HOwever other countries did,the USA did not, which surprised me since we send billions of dollars to Egypt, Iraq, Isreal, and Afghanistan, etc, and don’t get anything in return for our money. My opinion is the story needs more work.
Thank you,Arletta M. Ashe
NPR is a great station that likes to investigate stories and they would totally be interested in what you have to say. I would suggest that you content them and let them know your thoughts.
what do i dial into on the radio to get your station? i’m in santa cruz, ca.
RealPlayer doesn’t have a radio station. There are plenty of mobile apps that you can use that will find the NPR station in your area.
